Today, 13th March, about 26 members attended McKenzie Reserve, Budgewoi for the Annual Picnic celebrating Australia Day which had been postponed. What a glorious day it turned out to be. In spite of the weather we have been having we were favoured and the sun shone for us — never mind that a storm erupted after most of us got home — and everyone was in a good mood. As usual the B.B.Q. sausages and onions together with the salads were terrific and the cakes that followed made your mouth water. Unfortunately, Frank Mclean missed his footing and fell, hitting his face on the edge of a table. An ambulance was sent for and poor Frank was carted off to hospital missing the picnic, as did Judy. After a long wait Frank was attended to and it was found that he had broken his nose, wounded his forehead and shook himself up nastily. The hospital had to stitch his forehead and after some consultation decided to keep him in overnight. Frank returned home next day a little the worst for wear. At last call he was going along O.K.
As for the rest of us, after we had had our fill of the goodies it was time for the Trivia game, which was conducted by Helen Leslie in the absence of Judy. To say that we did well would be a misnomer, out of 15 questions the top right answers amounted to 7 scored by Pam Pearce and the questions were about Australia, shame on us all. Alan Hirst was second after a play-off. The Picnic wrapped up about 2.30, another great outing arranged by our Social Section and all the helpers. Many thanks to all.
